THE FOUNDERS + OWNERS OF KO'OLAU WELLNESS CENTER
Coach and Co-Founder Tara McBride
Born and raised in Canada and always active since a young age, I have participated in volleyball, basketball, badminton, track and field (high jump, triple jump, javelin, 4×100 relay, and heptathlon) and soccer. With multiple opportunities to play college/university athletics, I decided to take a break from organized sport and enjoy school and traveling for a couple years. During this time I met and fell in love with my husband Tom McBride. Having ran in multiple triathlons, 5 km’s, 10 km’s, half marathons, trying new sports and activities my journey led me to start weight training for the first time back when Tom and I were newly weds. Turned out I really enjoyed lifting weights and learning the sport of Olympic Lifting via Crossfit, I currently hold the state record for the Snatch and Clean & Jerk in my weight class. Physical activity and health has always caught my interest and is a huge part of my life, I knew I wanted to be involved in the health industry and practiced Dental Assisting for a few years, until I received my Bachelors of Science in Exercise Sport Science. Having seen personally the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, I know I wanted to share this with everyone around me. Tom and I have had this vision that overall wellness is more than just being able to run or lift some weights, but that wellness is a unity in physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and social gain. We wanted to create a space that has something for everyone, a place to come to learn, grow, connect, and of course sweat.

KO'OLAU MOVEMENT STUDIO
Lauren Tuttle || Program Manager
Aloha! I am Lauren Tuttle! I graduated from BYU-Provo with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and developed a deep love for personal and community health! I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, ran my own Sunset Boot Camp, certified in Yoga Sculpt, and taught multiple exercise classes at Turtle Bay. I am always striving and becoming more knowledgeable in the fitness and wellness industry. I love living an active healthy lifestyle and want the same for everyone I am around. I’m excited to share with you and the community the talents and passion of myself and other instructors at the Ko’olau Wellness center in the Ko’olau Movements Studio Program.
I was born in the desert of Arizona but at 18 years old my desires to be by the Sea, travel the world, and save lives lead me to join the United States Coast Guard. I was blessed for over 10 amazing years of traveling the world, working as flight mechanic on helicopters and getting to live my dream doing search and rescue. By 2010 my passion for fitness sparked a curiosity about natural health, healing, and yoga practices . I was looking for natural ways to deal with my years of triathlons wear and other sports related injuries. It all started with hot yoga as my first step in my yoga journey . A few years later I took my next big step by taking my first aerial yoga class. I heard about all the amazing benefits Aerial yoga could give you as well as the support it could give me in getting back into the yoga postures I couldn’t do anymore. At my very first Aerial yoga class I was hooked …floating in the air while stretching,aligning and building strength at same time. Not only did Aerial yoga gave me back the body balance I was in search of but it elevated my mind into a more conscious understanding of my bodies power. Around 2013 I started doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and since then my yoga practice has been expanding into other forms of yoga. Yoga brings longevity to my daily jiu jitsu practice and my other fitness practices. Yoga just goes so hand and hand with any fitness regime as a team to fuel my soul, knock off stress, and energize my body. This new energy sparked my desire to share natural health and fitness with everyone. In the summer of 2017 my passion couldn’t be contained anymore I had to jump all in so I left the Coast Guard and moved back to Hawaii to give space to my next dream. Even though I had already been teaching aerial yoga since 2014 but I decided I would get my Aerial Yoga Alliance certification through Ulu yoga in Thailand. In the summer of 2017 I completed that. By the following summer of 2018 I got my 200HR Yoga teacher training through Hawaii Yoga Institute. My next adventure in life is to share natural healing, fitness and create new fun ways to create flow, energize, and bring peace to people’s daily life.
